If there’s one woman in the world who won’t be faced with our regular Saturday night dilemma ‘I have nothing to wear’, its Kate Middleton. Last night, the Duchess of Cambridge attended a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace, hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, to honor Spain’s King Felipe and Queen Letizia’s arrival to the UK.
The 35-year-old stunned in a pale pink, lace Marchesa gown – thought to be custom-made and in the style of the label’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection – with ruffled, elbow-length sleeves and a plunging neckline, with her hair twisted into a low chignon at the nape of her neck.
She accessorized her regal look with the Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara, which was one of Princess Diana’s favorite pieces of jewelry according to E! News.
Arriving to the event in a car alongside her husband, Prince William, Kate was also spotted wearing pearl-drop earrings and a King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Bandeau diamond and ruby necklace, borrowed from the Queen, according to The Daily Mirror Royal Correspondent Victoria Murphy. It is the sixth time the mother-of-two has worn Diana’s tiara, with the first being at her and Prince William’s 2011 royal wedding.
During the banquet – attended by the likes of Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince Harry and Theresa May – the queen wore an aquamarine tiara and a satin, white Angela Kelly dress after being led into dinner by King Felipe.
According to the Daily Express, guests dined on a feast including poached fillet of salmon trout with fennel in a white wine volute sauce, Scottish beef medallions with bone marrow and truffles, runner beans with sautéed radishes, celeriac salad, fondant potatoes, yellow and green zucchini and summer squash and dark chocolate and raspberry tarts.
